Dr. Karl Heggland - Oral Surgeon

Dr. Karl Lewis Hickey Heggland is Summit County, Colorado’s only full-time, local, Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, and maintains an office in Edwards, Colorado as well.

Dr. Heggland received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Notre Dame, where he was a member of the 1988 national championship football team. After graduating from college, he enrolled in the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, where in addition to graduating with honors, Dr. Heggland won awards for his research in microbiology and his skills in surgery.

After earning his dental degree Dr. Heggland spent seven additional years training in surgery and anesthesia. With time spent in such varied environments as VA Medical Centers in Denver, Colorado; Dayton and Cincinnati, Ohio; Children’s Hospitals in Denver and Cincinnati, and University Medical Centers in Denver, Cincinnati, and Knoxville, Tennessee, Dr. Heggland gained the widest possible scope of expertise in surgery and outpatient anesthesia.

Presently, Dr. Heggland maintains a full-time practice in Frisco & Edwards Colorado. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Colorado Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and has served as the Chief of Surgery at the St. Anthony’s Summit Medical Center. When he’s not working he enjoys spending time with his wife and family skiing, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, hunting, barbecue, bird dogs, and old trucks.

I couldn't ask for a better resolution to a painful interruption in life. Upon an "urgent" (on my part) diagnosis from an endodontist (another hero, Tracy Ackerman et. al)., I was referred to Dr. Heggland and he was kind enough to see me the same day! Evil tooth and pain removed about two hours later! Professional, smart and comforting. With an excellent staff for support. What more can you ask for?

Dr. Heggland was great. He did an exam, taking xrays and explained everything to me in detail. i felt very comfortable. During the procedure he explained what was occurring and gave me instructions at the end. Dr. Heggland called to check on me later in the afternoon. Everything went fine. I would recommend Dr. Heggland to everyone.
